Disable 'Are You Still Watching?' (2026 Update)

Why your old extensions are breaking and how to permanently disable the YouTube idle prompt in 2026.

Updated February 3, 2026 · Editorial Policy

YouTube now pauses because Chrome’s new rules put old extensions to sleep. Here’s what still works—fast.

Quick fix (works with Manifest V3)

  • Install AutoTube / YouTube Nonstop from the Chrome Web Store (MV3 version). It sends keep-alive pings so it doesn’t sleep.
  • Pin the extension and keep one YouTube tab open. Test on a 30+ minute video.

Backup if that fails

  • Firefox desktop: Install YouTube Nonstop or a simple “auto-continue” add-on. Firefox still allows always-on background scripts.
  • Edge/Brave: Use the same MV3-friendly build from the Chrome Web Store.

Why old extensions stopped

Chrome moved to Manifest V3, which puts background extensions to sleep after ~30s. Legacy “auto-clickers” no longer wake in time to press “Continue.”

Permanent fix

We’re shipping an always-on MV3-native solution that never sleeps.
