Quick fixes (no coding)

1) Easiest (iPhone/iPad, no ads)

  • Install Scriptable (App Store).
  • Install the “Tubey 4K” Shortcut (RoutineHub).
  • Use: In YouTube, tap Share → Tubey 4K. Plays in a floating window with screen off.

2) Safari extension route (iPhone/iPad/Mac)

  • Install “Userscripts” from the App Store and enable it: Safari → Aa → Manage Extensions → turn on Userscripts and allow “All Websites.”
  • Add the “YouTube Background Playback” userscript (GreasyFork).
  • Refresh YouTube; background/lock playback should work.

3) Backup option (no setup)

  • Install Brave for iOS → play the video → tap “Add to Playlist.” Brave caches it so it keeps playing with screen off.

When it breaks

iOS updates often disable Shortcuts or extensions. If video stops after updates, re-run the steps above.

Permanent fix

Apple keeps breaking workarounds. We’re building a native Safari solution that never needs re-installing.
