Video Paused Continue Watching YouTube (2026)
You keep hitting the video paused prompt and need it dismissed automatically.
If you see “Video paused. Continue watching?” then YouTube has triggered its idle prompt. The prompt appears after long periods with no interaction. There is no official disable button, but these fixes work.
Quick fixes
- Click the player once to reset the timer.
- Move the tab to the foreground for a few minutes.
- Turn off battery saver on laptops or phones.
- Update your browser/app so you get the latest player fixes.
Stop the prompt from interrupting you
For long sessions (work, study, sleep), manual clicking is not realistic. The most reliable options are:
- Use a prompt handler: a tool that detects the idle dialog and clicks it for you.
- Avoid heavy extensions: reload-based tools create stutters and can break playlists.
- Keep the audio route stable: Bluetooth dropouts can trigger pauses.
